TAD - 8 Way Santa - {Reboot - Out of Print}

TAD - 8 Way Santa
Studio Recordings @320
{Out of Print}

TAD was an American grunge band from Seattle, Washington led by Tad Doyle. Among the first of the many bands which came out of Seattle in the grunge era, Tad was notable for the fact that its music was inspired far more by '70s metal than the punk which influenced many other grunge bands. Although their commercial success was limited, their music is still highly regarded amongst grunge fans.
~More at Wiki

Where does one begin to describe how excellent this album is? Is it the earthy, soulful yelling of the lead singer? The hard-rocking music? The scary slow burn of Candi? The wonderfully haunting 3-D Witch Hunt? The humorous cinematic atmosphere of Jack Pepsi, Delinquent or Trash Truck? The superb guitar and bass playing? The thunderous drumming? The clear, punchy and solid production? Maybe it's just the whole combination and how it goes together so wonderfully.

This is one of THE best of the early-90's grunge albums. It has a bizarre, twisted sense of humor, a perfect balance between the hard rocking and the melodic and the excellent, mountainous vocals of lead singer Tad Doyle. Such a shame that this band never made it big. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates good, unpretentious, humorous, and rugged hard rock. One of the unsung classics of the grunge era.

~Ian Mark Rosen

 Tad Doyle is not someone to fuck with. The second time I saw TAD, 10 minutes into the show he warned some douche bag to stop spitting on him or the guy was going to get his ass beat. 10 seconds later all 300+ lbs. of Tad Doyle jumped off the 5 ft. high stage onto the spitter and promptly smashed the guy's face in. It was great! I meet Tad after the show. A really nice guy and we talked music for about 15 minutes, he's just not someone you want to piss off.

I LOVE this record!!!

Samsara Blues Experiment - Live Crossroads Festival 2012

Samsara Blues Experiment - Live Crossroads Festival
Rockpalast
Bonn, Germany
October 24, 2012
WDR Broadcast Source @320

1 uncut file @ 56:22

SAMSARA BLUES EXPERIMENT are a German three-piece who channel their musical forms in extended forays of psychedelic blues rock. Formed in 2007 by guitarist Christian Peters with second guitarist/actual bassist Hans Eiselt, former bassist Richard Behrens and drummer Thomas Vedder, the Berlin-based band plays a mixture of stoner rock, psychedelic blues, Indian raga, and traditional folk.

Their uniquely organic sound has earned them a reputation as one of the best new bands to rise out of the current heavy rock genre while their live shows are heralded as euphoric jams and cosmic voyages. They have produced two superior studio albums, “Long Distance Trip” (2010) and “Revelation & Mystery” (2011) that showcase a playful musical journey that blends duel-guitars, pounding rhythms, retro styled jamming and hypnotic hooks in the tradition of classic krautrock.

Numerous tours across Europe have established SBE as one of today’s greatest live acts. The band released their much-anticipated third album “Waiting For The Flood” in 2013 to critical praise for their exploration, vibrancy and physical energy. The spring of 2014 saw the departure of bassist Richard Behrens, guitarist Hans Eiselt switching from rhythm guitar to bass.

SBE continues now as a dynamic power trio and has lost nothing of its truly balanced, groovy and voluptuous sound.

Focus - Live 1972 & 1974

From the Dave Sez archive:
"Best remembered for their bizarre chart smash "Hocus Pocus," Dutch progressive rock band Focus was formed in Amsterdam in 1969 by vocalist/keyboardist/flutist Thijs van Leer, bassist Martin Dresden, and drummer Hans Cleuver. With the subsequent addition of guitarist Jan Akkerman, the group issued its debut LP, In and Out of Focus, in 1970, earning a
European cult following thanks to the single "House of the King."

Something a bit different - Dutch prog rockers Focus in concert in London for the BBC in 1972 (@320) and in Osaka in July 1974 (misdated to June 1975, @320), full covers and text included. The Japanese gig from the Hamburger.

Concerto tour is particularly rare, one of the last live recordings with Jan Akkerman on guitar and a gift from the great Asso of TUBE. His @320 link is still live at:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/b4a7956/n/Foc.1975-06-xx.Tokyo.by.T.U.B.E.rar, or use the link below. He also offered a FLAC version which is down ("for maintenance") and which may go back up again if you are patient. The FLAC links are:

Dave and Phil Alvin, late of the band the Blasters and longtime mainstays of an American roots-rock scene that absorbs elements of rock, folk, country, and blues, have always had a contentious relationship. Dave’s departure from the band, in the mid-eighties, ushered in a period in which the two brothers kept their distance from each other; Dave pursued a solo career while Phil occasionally reformed the Blasters. Last year, the brothers reunited to record material for “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County,” a musical project masterminded by Stephen King, John Mellencamp, and T-Bone Burnett. And now they have extended the revived partnership with an entire album, “Common Ground: Dave Alvin + Phil Alvin Play and Sing the Songs of Big Bill Broonzy”.

Miles Davis - Live Cologne, Germany 1971

Miles Davis Septet - Sartory Festsaal
Cologne, Germany
November 12, 1971
WDR FM Broadcast @flac

   After playing a lot of these white rock halls, I was starting to wonder why I shouldn’t be trying to get to young black kids with my music. They were into funk, music they could dance to. It took me a while to really get into the concept all the way… Jack DeJohnette left the group late in 1971, around the same time Keith Jarrett left. I wanted the drummer to play certain funk rhythms… I didn’t want the band playing totally free all the time, because I was moving closer to the funk groove in my head.
