The late 1974 US tour to promote "Sally Can't Dance" was Lou's amphetamine and alcohol - fueled assault on the unsuspecting youth of North America. The RCA publicity machine had moved into top gear, but Lou was speeding way, way ahead of them. While they were pushing him as a user-friendly glam-rock/white soul superstar, he was dying iron crosses in his hair, living with a half-Mexican transsexual called Rachel and (simulating) shooting up on stage. The new LP and 45 were being being heavily promoted via nationwide TV ads featuring our man in trademark leather jacket, blonde hair and shades (...follow the bouncing ball and sing along with Lou.....). Whatever RCA were doing, it worked, and "Sally" was in the US top 10 LP chart. Lou was later quoted as saying "....I slept through that LP - whatever they suggested I said yes....". It seemed that the further Lou descended into self-parody, the more records he sold, and the more pressure RCA put on him to produce even more "product". This would ultimately backfire in mid 1975, when he vomited up "Metal Machine Music" and then had a very public breakdown during the Australian leg of the '75 world tour. Lou wouldn't perform in public again until late 1976.

I think this is a simply outstanding show. Lou may be out of it, but the band most certainly are not. I love the way you can hear Lou slapping the mic stand at the end of "Vicious". The vocals alternate between detached and manic throughout this set, but are particularly expressive during "Kill Your Sons" (surely the best EVER live version of this song). It's as if he's standing on the edge of a cliff and he's just about to jump off because he KNOWS he can fly. This tour was the only outing for "NY Stars" and "Animal Language" - these live renditions sound better than the studio versions to me. You can hear him sneering as he spits out the words to "NY Stars". It sounds as if someone broke a string during "Animal Language": the band start a loose jam while it's being replaced. Lou starts vamping the words to "Waiting" during the jam, and just continues singing it when the band move on to the "Sally Can't Dance" riff. The end result is a unique medley of "Waiting" and "Sally" (you have to wonder how long it took Lou to realise he was singing the wrong song - he did pretty much the same at the Chalmette show in November, singing "Vicious" while the band played "Sweet Jane"). "White Light White Heat" is a heavy metal prototype for every late 1970s punk band. "Goodnight Ladies" is a gas, with the whole band gathering round the microphone - you can (just) hear someone in the background asking where the "Jacks" (Jack Daniels) is.....they were having a good time. "Rock And Roll" is simply sublime.

The stereo recording made at Dayton was missing "Intro/Sweet Jane" and part of "Vicious" and there was a tape break during "Wild Side": mono soundboard recordings from the New York concert have been used to replace those songs.

OK, here's an almost-upgrade for everyone. I grabbed a version of this FM broadcast off of Dime in December of 2009. It was decent except that it was missing the encore. What I offer here is a slightly better sound quality version, but not only includes the encore but also a cool, short interview with Robin right after he leaves the stage that was broadcast. Unfortunately, my version is missing Bridge of Sighs, whereas the first version had a complete(?) version of it. So, given all of that I wasn't sure how I was going to share this, so I decided to offer two slightly different versions:

96/24 version: My cassette version as-is with no edits (not included here)
44/16 version: My cassette version with Bridge of Sighs from the first source spliced in (didn't come out too bad, fairly seamless, but slightly off-key)

   After playing a lot of these white rock halls, I was starting to wonder why I shouldn’t be trying to get to young black kids with my music. They were into funk, music they could dance to. It took me a while to really get into the concept all the way… Jack DeJohnette left the group late in 1971, around the same time Keith Jarrett left. I wanted the drummer to play certain funk rhythms… I didn’t want the band playing totally free all the time, because I was moving closer to the funk groove in my head.

This event was dubbed "A Concert for Europe", and was broadcast on RAI FM and TV in Italy and other European countries. This recording is from a German FM radio rebroadcast of this concert, with the intro and fireworks at the end added from the Italian TV broadcast.

This free and historic concert, which took place during Pink Floyd's A Momentary Lapse of Reason tour, was staged on a floating barge on the Grand Canal in Venice, Italy, during the traditional Festa del Redentore.

After the concerts at Arena of Verona, Monza, Livorno, and Cava de' Tirreni in May 1989, the Venetian producer Francesco 'Fran' Tomasi proposed that Pink Floyd close their tour in Italy with a free concert in his city on the night of 15 July 1989, during the traditional Festa del Redentore.

Initially it was planned to set up the stage, twenty-four metres high, on the extreme tip of the island of Giudecca, but due to space availability issue it was decided to use some large rafts moored in the middle of San Marco basin, in front of the Doge's Palace.

Counted among the most extraordinary and controversial rock concerts ever held in Italy, it took place on 15 July 1989 on the traditional Redeemer Festival (Festa del Redentore) in the presence of some 200,000 spectators positioned on the banks and boats of the St. Mark's basin. It was broadcast by RAI worldwide with an audience of about 100 million viewers.

The cost of the event was financed with one billion Italian lire by RAI, who broadcast the concert worldwide and simultaneously in the two Germanies; the rest of the expenses (several hundred millions lire) were covered by Pink Floyd themselves. It is estimated that worldwide, the concert was watched by 100 million spectators, 27 million of them in the United States (where the event was broadcast on cable for the price of ten dollars). Notes:
This show was one of the most tense WOV shows ever recorded. Plagued with feedback, the band took the stage and played without being able to hear each other very well, although they were tight enough you might not notice it. The radio station stepped in and tried to force them to change their set leading to confusion and anger from some of the band members, notably Joe Nanini had a meltdown and swore off at the radio station before going into Mexican Radio, and Bill Noland asking what the next song was going to be as the band was starting to play "Longarm" - This bootleg has been unofficially released as "Spit out the Window" and "Burning Memories", with the latter including album art with Andy Prieboy.

After the untimely death of their bassist, Paul Raven, Killing Joke reunited in the original lineup in 2008 with Jaz Coleman, Kevin "Geordie" Walker, Martin "Youth" Glover and Paul Ferguson.
In September the band started the world tour. They played two nights per venue. The first nights are dedicated to their first two albums, "Killing Joke" and "What's THIS For...!", while the second night features large parts of "Pandemonium" plus some early singles . Tour began on September 11 in Tokyo and concluded in Chicago on October 14, 2008

With guest appearances from Bob Dylan, Dr. John and others. This superb set from March 29th, 1973 was broadcast on WBCN FM at Boston's renowned Paul's Mall Club. It captures Sahm tearing through a selection of early classics (including his timeless hits "She's About A Mover" and "Mendocino", as well as more recent material.From 1973, this live set features both hard core horn led blues and hippie rock.  This was the year that the landmark Atlantic LP "Doug Sahm & Band" was released and this set reflects the eclectic and powerful sound of the group at it's peak. Excellent sound and performances make it a real winner...........

On disc 1 there's a small glitch on Track 4 at 7:12, 
another glitch at 34 seconds on Track 7 right where Up From the Skies starts, the transition
from Up From the Skies doesn't sound quite right either, like it had been stuck
in there for some reason and track 9 starts a tad late and abruptly.  
On disc 2 there's a glitch at 8:31 on track 2, also 7 seconds in on track 3. 
Other than those small flaws, this is a great show and a great soundboard recording.
