Miles Davis - Live at Royal Festival Hall London 1971

Rebooted...

Miles Davis - Royal Festival Hall

November 13, 1971

London, UK

Excellent Unknown Source @256

This is what Miles wrote in his autobiography: “Airto Moreira quit early in 1971 and I got Jimmy Heath’s son, Mtume, to replace him on percussion. We didn’t record for a while because you have to let a band get used to playing together before you record anything. We went out on the road to try to get things together.
“Jack DeJohnette left the group late in 1971, around the same time Keith Jarrett left. I wanted the drummer to play certain funk rhythms, a role just like everybody else in the group had. I didn’t want the band playing totally free all the time, because I was moving closer to the funk groove in my head. Now, Jack could play drums like a motherf***er in a groove; he could really do that shit, but he also wanted to do other things, play a little freer, be a leader, do things his own way, so he left…
“I tried out Leon Ndugu Chancler… But after Gary Bartz, Keith, and Jack left my working band, I got my musicians from funk groups and not jazz bands because that’s the way I was going. Those guys were the last pure jazz players I’ve had in my bands up until today.”

Miles Davis Septet - Live Boston 1973

Miles Davis Septet - Paul's Mall

Boston, MA.
October 17, 1973
aka-Call It What It Is

FM Source @ 256

The band played 2 sets, I have never seen a complete recording of both sets.

Second Set
   1. Ife 34:05
   2. Agharta Prelude 13:16
   3. Zimbabwe 11:21

Miles Davis (tpt, org); Dave Liebman (ss, ts, fl); Pete Cosey (g, perc); Reggie Lucas (g);
Michael Henderson (el-b); Al Foster (d); James Mtume Forman (cga, perc)

The date of this music is uncertain. The Davis Septet was booked for several nights at Paul's Mall in mid-October 1973. One set from October 17 has been issued on JMY ME-6403. My guess is that these sets took place before the October 17 date but after the recording sessions for Liebman's Lookout Farm, which took place at Generation Sound Studios in New York on October 10-11.

Although these shows have circulated for years with the venue as the Jazz Workshop, according to Jim Rose, a member of the Davis entourage from 1972 on, the venue was Paul's Mall.

Oasis - Second Night In A Shithole

 *THANKS TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER

Wow,what with the G brothers on a very succsesful reunion tour I thought it only appropriate that I give you a notorious live show. I'm sure this show prolly had a lot to do with the first breakup of the band with Liam being off his nut, insulting the crowd, the birds flying overhead, his brother, the band, the weather well you get the idea. Wonder if Liam is near the end of his rope on this tour (now) or does he just goes back to the dressing room, after the show, puts his money in a big pile climb to the top and jump off. Here's a nice synopsis of what you'll be getting should you choose to download this show.

Lou Reed - Live In Cleveland 1978

Lou's Arista years were not his best. Sadly when you go to listen to Lou, the first things you're not gonna reach for are "The Bells" or "Growing Up In Public" However we did get one masterpiece during this time "Street Hassle" Which brings us to the point where you come in. Apparently the live songs on "Street Hassle"  "Gimmie Some Good Times, Leave Me Alone, Shooting Star and Wait" were recorded  on April 24th in Ludwigshafen, with Wait being recorded in Munich (I don't know the date of this one) I find it very hard to believe that these songs were recorded at these shows seeing as how the bootlegs I can find of these cuts sound like shit, unless there are soundboard recordings of these songs floating around somewhere I can't find. The songs on "Street Hassle" are definite soundboards. So do you the Lou Reed connoisseur know of where these song exsist, and what show's they are from. Can you help me locate the shows where these live "Street Hassle" songs were recorded? See scans

Was (Not Was) - Town & Country Club

December 12, 1988

London, UK

FM Source @256

BBC 1 in Concert Series....

Was (Not Was) play contemporary R&B dance music, with lyrics that range from the satiric to the bizarre. The group is led by Detroit natives David Weiss (David Was), who plays flute and writes those lyrics, and Don Fagenson (Don Was), who plays bass and writes music, but the group is fronted by singers Harry Bowens and Sweet Pea Atkinson. Was (Not Was) first gained notice for a dance single called "Wheel Me Out" in 1980. Their first album, Was (Not Was) (1981), did not reach the charts, but its follow-up, Born to Laugh at Tornados (1983), did. Then little was heard from the group for five years. They returned in 1988 with What Up, Dog?, which featured the number 16 hit "Spy in the House of Love" and the number seven hit "Walk the Dinosaur." (During this period, Don Was had become a prominent record producer, handling the board for Bonnie Raitt's Grammy-winning Nick of Time, among many other mainstream pop records.) The fourth Was (Not Was) album, Are You Okay?, appeared in 1990. Are You Okay? wasn't as commercially successful as the previous What Up, Dog? After the album's release, Don Was continued to pursue his production career, which began to increase tensions between Don and David. In 1993, they parted ways but returned 15 years later with Boo!, an album featuring several Was (Not Was) vets, including Bowens, Atkinson, Wayne Kramer, David McMurray, and Luis Resto.
