High Society debuted in 1980 on Hawkeye Cablevision in Des Moines, Iowa. Conceived by director Kevin Lambi and music promoter Jeff Todd, the show pioneered music programming at the dawn of the MTV age. The video technology was primitive, and the production skills were raw, but the music was top notch as bands appeared for just the opportunity for exposure on TV. Over the course of two short years, many of the best local, regional and national acts, at the height of their popularity were recorded, featuring many musical styles. The crowning achievement for High Society, was a nomination for the Award for Cable Excellence (ACE) from the Nation Cable Television Association.
Like many idealistic endeavors, High Society could not sustain itself. The participants moved on and the tapes gathered dust. After nearly 35 years fighting changes in technology, busy schedules and personal inertia, Kevin and Jeff have finally pulled the tapes together and made the transfer to digital files in order to preserve the history of that musical era and to excite the fans of those bands that exist only in memory.
This unedited presentation of the original studio session is a testament to the passion that created High Society so many years ago.

For all the researching I did on this, I could not find an exact date.I 'm pretty sure it was sometime during late August or September 79.  On a side note, there was an earlier Climax show from Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham, filmed for the BBC 'Goes to College' on Nov 1, 1978. That has a completely different set list.During this Polytechnic show, they mention a previous show where they opened for Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Odeon in Birmingham and they wrote the song 'Champagne and Rock and Roll' about them.

Squeeze Live Chicago 6-30-80

Everything is so pessimistic these days, and if the bottom can fall out it will any minute now. What with having to worry about, stupid and repetitive jobs, having enough money to survive, how many followers I have on facetweet, etc. But I have come up with a way to become optimistic in our everyday lives....wait for it.....STUDY THE TEACHINGS OF MIKE LOVE. That's right Mike Love. Mike is the most happiest-go-lucky fellow I've seen. Have you ever seen this guy dance? He makes Mick look like Michael Jackson. Do you think it bother's him at all that he is the epitome of no rhythm white man? Not at all. Do you think it bother's him at all suing his cousin for writing credits about chesseburgers and sodas? Not at all. Do you think it bother's him that he is not relevant? Not at all. Do you think it bother's him that he damn near had Dennis killed? Not at all. Everytime I see this guy he's smiling and telling us the benefit's of TM. As a matter of fact I'm going to start my mantra right now.................................OK I'm back. So the next time you feel like you're  the last sheet of toilet paper on the roll and the world has diarrhea let the teachings of Mr. Love soothe your troubled mine. No covers. Songs.           (With a nod to Andy)

Rebooted...

Miles Davis - Avery Fisher Hall
Newport Jazz Festival
New York City, NY
July 1, 1975
Band Recorded Soundboard @320

Listen to these two sets and it’s hard to imagine that Miles Davis would soon stop playing for the next four years. The band is firing on all cylinders; the music is passionately performed and any other group would have died for this. Filled with Miles’ staccato, jump-start bursts, with a backing wash of drums and cymbals that sound like shredding glass and a meandering, funky guitar - components such as nuance and precision may take a backseat to spontaneity and the magic of the musical kill… and it is all still surprisingly fresh today.
