Rockin' N Rollin' With Some Cajun Queen...

You've Heard the Last Names of these 3 fellows, I'm sure...
Slim Jim Phantom - drums, vocals
Lee Rocker - double bass, lead vocals
Earl Slick - guitar, vocals
The first 2 were Stray Cats and the last was an ace session and live guitar-slinger! On paper, You wouldn't think it would work, But You'd be wrong! These 3 Men Without Shame do some Serious Rockin' on this Great Sounding King Biscuit Recording!
Not much else to say - If You're too young to remember the Mid 80's and MTV (when they played actual Rock Music Videos) OR If You wanna remember it all over again - Here's some Great Rock & Roll that doesn't sound dated!

Brian Auger's Oblivion Express (1971)

Brian Auger's Oblivion Express (1971)
Studio Soundboard @320
{Out Of Print}

The first outing by Brian Auger's jazz-rock ensemble the Oblivion Express, first issued in 1971, is one of the great masterpieces of jazz-rock fusion. Auger, having just disbanded his longtime band the Trinity in 1970, still had plenty of rock and roll in his system. His yearning for the open frontiers of electric jazz was certainly the driving force -- in the same way that it was for Miles Davis on A Tribute to Jack Johnson, and Lifetime was for Tony Williams -- but it was anchored in the visceral application of rock. With guitarist Jim Mullen, bassist Barry Dean, and drummer Robbie McIntosh, Auger charted into the unknown. This album fits like a glove, each tune moving ever forward into the next. From the opening knotty, rhythmic twists in "Dragon Song," to the subterranean counterpoint in "Total Eclipse," to the band's theme song that closes the album with its pumping bass and guitar interludes, and Auger's Lemmy Kilmister-like vocals, Oblivion Express is a classic in its genre. There is a rawness in passion and intent here that is balanced by wondrously imaginative arrangements for rock band instrumentation, and an aesthetic that is disciplined and visionary. ~Thom Jurek AllMusic

Jimmy Johnson Band Live Tros Holland 1989

Did you hear that? Did you find it? What the hell are you talking about Jobe? Well....the sound is that of a pin dropping and the other is the needle in the haystack. What the fuck are you talking about Jobe?  Well that's how well my G N' R and my last Beatles (Volume 12) post went over. The Beatles (Volume 12) post as of today only has 211 views, when the other volumes I posted have over 400 (maybe I made them too hard to find and everybody just said fuck it) The G N' R post only has 111 views. I know Axl is a dick and their popularity is waning, but I thought it would go over bigger (Maybe you have it already) Well that brings me to this post, Don't ignore this post just maybe because you've never heard of  Jimmy Johnson. Or maybe you don't trust my taste anymore but let me make it up to you with this post. See scans

I Am Just a Cowboy, Lonesome on the Trail...

Here's a Great Show!

Pure Prairie League Live at My Father's Place on WLIR-FM!

It's a Great FM Recording with a Loud and Rowdy Crowd on hand enjoyin' the music these guys are playin'! PPL run the gamut during this show: from Bluegrass to Country Rock (Excuse Me for Not Keepin' up with the times ['cause they are a changin'] - "Americana.") From "I'll Fix Your Flat Tire, Merle" to "Let Me Love You Tonight" to "Amie (Fallin' In and Out Of Love)" to "I'm Almost Ready!" That's quite a feat for Any Band - But PPL pull it off effortlessly!

Vince Gill leads the band through All That - And the Crowd goes Wild!

PPL even get in "I'll Be Damned" (You know You wanna hear a song with That Title) and "Ain't Livin' Long Like This" (Can Not, Baby!)...

IF You like this half as much as those folks that night - You'll Love It!

Feelin' Alone and Confused...And Don't Know What To Do!

Psst... Yeah, You!   Come Here!
You ain't lookin' too good... Even behind that mask, I can tell...
Right Here, I got what You need to make You feel better!
Take THIS and I'll Guarantee You'll be feelin' better - at least for a while, anyway!
Go on, Take it home and Crank It Up or get You a nice set of headphones and get lost in THIS and away from Everything Else!

This is a "Damn Near Perfect!" FM Recording!
You ain't heard me say that about a bootleg, yet!

I was listenin' to THIS late last night and DAMN! (Yeah, I said DAMN!)
I dug THIS out of The Barn Archives...And I had forgotten about Wet Willie, and how good they were! They were on Capricorn Records back then, and had a few hits, but mostly got over-shadowed by many of their label-mates...

THIS is Good Time Rock & Roll!
If You wanna listen to "Keep On Smilin'" first, that's fine - it'll pick You up, then "Street Corner Serenade (Fun Song!)," Cool!
But DO NOT Ignore the rest of this show at The Bottom Line!

It starts with an Up-Tempo Rocker: "Leona" - from the title You'd think it a love song, and well it kinda is: 'Bout a place way down south called Leona's Home Cooking Cafe and how Jimmy Hall got a Fried Chicken Dinner there. A simple song 'bout simple things! Derek, we used to stop at diners down south and eat lunch together, packed in a run-down lookin' place with a ton of cars outside!
The best burgers and homefries could be had there, or an open-faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy and sweet tea (Not that kind where you have to add like 25 packets of sugar to, and still it don't get sweet!!!).

Back to the music:
Wet Willie had a Great Sound and one of the best, soulful singers in Jimmy Hall...
There's guitars, bass and drums, vocals, horns, harmonica, Etc. all blendin' together! The last song reminds me of a Chuck Berry tune from long ago!

Do Not Pass This One Up!    'Nuff Said!

Boat Of Dreams...

Here's an Excellent one from HEART!
It's a BBC Rock Hour (Or here in the states it was called London Wavelength?) Broadcast recording!

Heart was touring their Little Queen album...
The location and exact date of the recording (as far as I know) is unknown...

The Intro and Outro are here, even though they're not listed on the back cover, but somewhere along the way the commercials were removed - but, I don't believe any music or band talk was lost along the way!
You didn't wanna hear those old Toyota commercials anyway, did ya?

Not much else to say: You know Heart's unique blend of Folk, Rock, Pop, Etc.
and their eagerness to cover Zeppelin!
It's All Here!
IF You like Heart (And Don't Have It) - Get It!

Hinterwald has left the building

and Major Grubert is going "solo", opening his "hermetic garage"

Lads & gents, it has been a great pleasure and an unexpected honour being part of the "Voodoo Wagon" & the "Floppy Boot Stomp"-crew, but  having 111+ posts here, the time has come to say goodbye and doing one more of my own things.

This is maybe a little bit like Mick Taylor leaving the Rolling Stones making place for Ronnie Wood ;)

As for years before I entered these wonderful rooms I'll stay as a hardcore fan & friend of "the band" - but I want to do things the way I like to handle them, no boundaries in the size of a post ie. and all in all more spontaneously, ignoring (even only projected) expectations of a big audience, more focused on my own little hinterwald universe, mixed with comics and other stuff I'm interested in.

I hope the boss will add my new blog to the blogroll as I'll do it on my "Hermetic Garage" so we can keep staying in touch.

Stay safe & at home, folks, take care of yourself & your friends and family. Bye bye.

24-7 Spyz - Gumbo Millenium (1990)

24-7 Spyz - Gumbo Millenium (1990)
Studio recordings @HQvbr
{Out of Print}

24-7 Spyz formed in 1986, originally with Jimi Hazel (Wayne K. Richardson) on guitar, Rick Skatore (Kenneth D. Lucas) bass, Kindu Phibes drums, and P. Fluid (Peter Forrest) on vocals, from South Bronx, New York. The band became known for mixing soul, funk, reggae and R&B with heavy metal and hardcore punk. The fact that they are African-Americans playing heavy metal variations has made music critics compare them to bands like Living Color and Bad Brains. Although 24-7 Spyz was a pioneer in the fusion of these particular musical styles they never had much commercial success.

The band gained critical recognition for the album and landed a slot opening for Jane's Addiction on the "Ritual De Lo Habitual" tour. On the final night of the tour, vocalist P. Fluid announced onstage, to the surprise of his band members, that he was quitting the band. Johnson followed suit and the band regrouped with a new lineup early into the next year. P. Fluid and Johnson would reunite with 24-7 Spyz in 1994 for a new album and tour.

Like many 24-7 Spyz albums, the recording is out of print.
