For those that like some music with their fuzztone...a 200 ton heavy thing.

Often referred to as the "heaviest band in the universe," England's Electric Wizard have consistently redefined the preconceived thresholds of a detuned guitar chord with their peerless doom metal achievements -- this despite an often interpersonally troubled, if musically triumphant, career. Formed in darkest Dorset by vocalist/guitarist Justin Oborn (previously with Lords of Putrefaction), bassist Tim Bagshaw, and drummer Mark Greening, and initially known as Thy Grief Eternal (briefer still, simply Eternal), Electric Wizard made their debut with 1993's "Demon Lung" single -- a split release with fellow doomsters Our Haunted Kingdom (who later evolved into Orange Goblin). Released by Cathedral linchpin Lee Dorrian's doom-specialized Rise Above Records, the single paved the way for Electric Wizard's eponymous debut a year later, and, although it didn't quite revolutionize the genre (actually, it contained pretty standard doom fare for the time), the album still made for a rather impressive start. ~AMG

"Live At Paleur is a soundboard recording taken from Dylan's 1984 tour of Europe. It captures a highly enjoyable performance from Dylan and his Mick Taylor-fronted band. This recording sets Dylan's vocals way out in front but I personally enjoy that mix. The band are a little buried on some of thew songs and there are occasional echoes on the vocals but if you don't mind these things then this is a great recording. It'd give and 8 or an 8.5 out of 10. Dylan sings most of the songs in the confident, swaggering style that characterised many of live performances in the 1980's. While this style is certainly not my favourite of Bob's "vocal characters", it works to good effect on many of the songs here. One thing that cannot be disputed is that 'Live At Palaeur' is a much better document of this tour than the patchy official release 'Real Live'. Ballad Of A Thin Man on 'Real Live' is a horrible, rushed parody of the song that appeared on 'Highway 61 Revisited'. Here Ballad... is one of the highlights of the set. The versions of Maggies Farm, Masters Of War and Tombstone Blues on this release also put their Real Live incarnations to shame. Other high points include the brilliant, rewritten Tangled Up In Blue, an interesting post-Gospel rewrite of When You Gonna Wake Up? ("When you gonna wake up? maybe you never will"), a passionate I & I and a beautiful performance of Every Grain Of Sand, which was still a relatively new song at that time. It's clear that Bob's having fun when he lets the audience sing on the chorus of Times They Are A-Changin' and Blowin' In The Wind. All in all, this is a highly entertaining show and I don't hesitate in giving it my stamp of approval (for whatever that's worth...) "

I saw Van Halen in concert back in 1980 in Augusta, Georgia. (EVH - RIP)

This band was the opening act: TALAS!

The pride of Buffalo, NY - they were/are (they still get together for reunions every now and again) a three piece band. And, they were the perfect opener for VH...

My friend (Hey, Eric!) and I were anticipating Eddie rippin' up the fretboard, but unbeknownst to us Talas featured a guy that also could also cut loose on the neck - of a BASS GUITAR! 

His name is Billy Sheehan! (You may remember him from DLR, Mr. Big, The Winery Dogs, Etc., Etc.) His Bass Playing and Tone were Awesome and unlike anything I'd ever heard back then! They put on a great, rockin' show - Billy all over the bass and the stage! And, Dave and Paul were no slouches either!

This is their 2nd record, which is long Out Of Print! 

IF You've never heard it - I highly recommend You do so Now!

Mama Told Me...

 

Mother's Finest was formed about 50 years ago in Atlanta, Georgia by Joyce "Baby Jean" Kennedy, Glenn "Doc" Murdock and Gary "Moses Mo" Moore and then they added Jerry "Wyzard" Seay as the core of the band. 

They may be from the South, But they're NOT Southern Rock (Although, several of their members have been a part of Southern Rock Bands like Molly Hatchet & The Outlaws during their off times)! 

Putting just one Label or Category on them is tough...And, that probably led to a lack of success they deserve!

See, Mother's Finest IS Funk and Soul and R&B And ROCK! And they can't be nicely tied up (with a bow) in just one of those labels...So, the Record Companies and Radio Stations didn't really know what to do with them...But the audiences that saw them sure did! They've had several Albums go Gold, despite charting any singles!

Their biggest success (surprise) came in 1978 in Germany at Rockpalast... Where they made quite the impression on that part of the world, and are still beloved there in that part of Europe, like The Netherlands (where this concert comes from).

Mickey's Monkey a Holland/Dozier/Holland (Remember seeing those names on tons of records?) Composition, first recorded by Smokey and The Miracles, is probably their most famous tune, but it's not their best.

This recording is one of the best documents of the band's 'Moonmadness' tour. Date is usually credited as 26th June, but 23rd is also mentioned. After their UK tour in support of the new album, Camel made a brief visit to the US, and this concert was recorded for FM radio broadcast. The set is similar to what they were playing at the time, with 'Another Night' instead of 'Lady Fantasy' being played as encore. Note that Mel Collins is not present on this recording, as he joined the band a little later in the year for live shows.

This recording has been widely traded since its first broadcast on KSAN FM, so there are many tape versions of varying quality floating around (some shorter ones missing 'Song Within a Song'). They all seem to originate from off-air masters, and the program seems to have been aired at least twice, judging by slight variations in station ID announcements.  

A more contemporary version comes via the PRRP team, but their remaster 'Another Night' runs a little fast, and has noticeable denoising, muffling and artefacts. This version comes to me from a 3rd-generation tape in the custodianship of David D, radio broadcast researcher and collector extraordinare. It is possibly the best source for this show that has come to light so far.

My thanks to David for offering me a fine tape transcription, which I have remastered; balancing the volumes throughout the program (they were all over the place), reduced to mono to stabilize the stereo image (as it is a mono recording), and applying a very gentle equalisation curve (a little more punch in the bass, and drop the brightness in the upper mids), and editing the set together. The recording sounds quite bright in places, and a little dull in others. I've concluded that is not the eq, so much as an erratic live mix, and the prominence of Latimer's guitar, which seemed to have a particularly edgy  tone on this occasion.

So here it is, an upgrade for all of you, I hope. Enjoy!

Look I don't want to scare anybody but.....However we here at the Jobe Medical Center for the prevention of STD's are working on ways to stop this deadly outbreak. These are some of the experiments we are currently working on.

1. Smear dog shit all over your body (head to toe) this will certainly keep others from coming into contact with you.
2. Where your MAGA hat everywhere, this will assure that people of your ilk only come into contact with you (and of course we know that wearing a MAGA hat, nothing will stick)
3. After purchasing your meth, find a homeless person (that's easy enough) offer him a toot, and if  he/she suddenly wants to take a bath send it (the meth) to our labs for further testing
4. DO NOT GO OUT OF YOUR HOUSE FOR ANYTHING UNTIL JUNE 14TH when it will be warm and by that time the virus will have disappeared
5. Buy stock in the Jobe surgical mask company (right now it's tanking but just wait) then with the money you make you can live the high-life for your last few days (note this is a not a cure but a way for you to have some fun)
6. Purchase a copy of Lulu by Lou Reed and Metallica blast this at all times and everyone will stay away from you
7. Watch Fox news and be oblivious to everything that is going on in the world, that way if you don't hear about the Coronavirus it certainly can't get to you. (The less you know the more we thrive)

Notes Not much info on this show. except that it was a great show. by this time There were only three original members left: STEVE WINWOOD, JIM CAPALDI, CHRIS WOOD it was 1970. If you have never heard this show it is worth grabbing for your collection you won't be disappointed.

One more note: Roger Hawkins; Was the drummer with Traffic from 1972 - 1973 he was an amazing drummer. He was a great part of the Traffic sound that year. You should look him up in you are not familiar with him.

I could not find through a search where all three nights have been uploaded (at least not recently), if so I apologize for the repeat.

It's A Beautiful Day recorded over 3 nights opening for the Yardbirds (Cecil Taylor was also on the bill).  I've spent a lot of my trading life putting together complete nights and or stands at the Fillmore West. It was an incredible time for music and one of the few times you can find such a wide range of bands on the same bill (where else could you find Black Sabbath opening for Love)! Anybody have the Yardbirds sets from this stand?  Seems to not exist...

This is a nice 3 night stand, all are excellent soundboard quality with only slight tape hiss.

This is an excellent Tuna show. Jorma and Jack are at the top of their game waling away.
Amazing version of Rock Me Baby Are Hot Tuna folks out there? Well, this is the way I like my
Tuna the best: electrified. It's a show at The Palladium in New York and was recorded from a radio
broadcast on WNEW-FM. I received this show from one of my trading buddies quite a few summers ago.

Country Dick Montana, vocalist/drummer for the Beat Farmers, finished this debut solo album shortly before his death. Though the aneurysm that stopped him at the age of 40 could not have been predicted, he lived a hard life and battled throat cancer in his last years, so the references to death, which start with the title and the flaming cover (Montana's concept), are not entirely coincidental. Still, when he sings, "I'll die happy with a smile on my face" in "Party Dolls and Wine," a song with a sudden, unexpected ending, the ironies abound. As last statements go, however, The Devil Lied to Me is an unusually joyous statement. Montana had a resonant bass voice that dominates the record, even in the presence of such guests as Rosie Flores, Dave Alvin, John Doe, Katy Moffatt, and Mojo Nixon. The material gets more twisted as the disc goes on, until Montana's persona, with its barroom swagger and interest in sex and stimulants, is well established. Given the singer's untimely departure, it may be heard as a cautionary tale, but it's hard to believe he would have done it (the record or his life) differently if he'd known what was going to happen. ~ William Ruhlmann

This concert took place sometime in 1979 in Nebraska... That's all I know, Other than it's an Excellent FM Broadcast Recording! Great Setlist as well...
